SERVE Vs SELL

June 8, 2020 by Tanya Lacy

This post continues from a post over on my Tanya Lacy Leadership Training Page. And the topic is about how 1 simple expression I would use over and over helped me achieve a steady stream of lucrative contracts over the years.

And it’s all to do with how to look at SALES in a different way.

Let me start with what sales is not.

Sales is not shoving something in the face of someone and TELLING them they NEED to BUY it.

I remember being in Egypt many years ago and having products and trinkets and offers made to me with products being literally shoved in my face.

It’s not a nice feeling is it? And that’s the thing. I believe most people who are AFRAID of selling, are not actually afraid of selling as much as BEING SEEN to be SHOVING something in the FACE of someone that is not needed. Hence becoming a nuisance. Let’s face it, no one wants to be a nuisance.

We don’t wake up in the morning and say – today I am going to annoy as many people as possible. Really piss them off and aggravate and frustrate them making their day really sh*t do we?

No, we wake up with a completely different thought and of course this is what sets up the whole scenario. In-fact our thoughts can make or break our day.

Before I share what the key thought or saying to tell yourself over and over again actually is, I do want to hit you up with a formulae.

Here’s the formulae. I first heard it from T. Harv Eker, and then I changed it up to something that works better for our clients. Here it is:

Thoughts => Feelings => Reactions => Actions => Result.

Your thoughts create your feelings which create your REACTIONS which create your Actions, which create your results.

So if you have the thought “I will be annoying this person” or “this person doesn’t need what I have” you will be right.

If you have the thought “I’m just no good at selling or sales” you will be right.

If you have the thought “No-one listens to me” you will be right

If you have the thought “I can learn how to be better at sales and teach my whole team to do the same” you will be right.

And so, THOUGHTS and what you THINK and what you SAY TO YOURSELF as the leader are SUPER Key to the success of your business.

—

At Intercept Group we are known for asking this question: Do you accept that the success of your business is a reflection of you?

What we’re really asking is do you accept that your inner world experience is going to shape the trajectory of your outer-world business results?

If you are not getting the results you want, then INTERCEPT your trajectory. (Hence the name of our business and programs, being ‘Intercept’).

And what we’ve grown to understand is that the beliefs and thoughts of the LEADER shape so much.

And this brings me to sharing the saying that I would say over and over again before creating a NEW piece of business or contract for my company.

That new piece of business could be $500 or it could be $100K the saying would be exactly the same.

Whether I was doing a phone call. A discussion. Presenting. Anytime I am entering into communication. And this has been a total game changer for any client I would share this with.

Here it is: Here’s the SAYING.

“LOOK AFTER PEOPLE and THE MONEY COMES”.

Yes, Look after people and the money comes.

Look after people, and the money comes.

This saying to me, was all about exchange. Offering fair exchange for what we as a business could provide and what the client NEEDED.

It comes from SERVE FIRST. It comes from a mindset of SERVING not SELLING.

It comes from finding out what the client NEEDS and what OUTCOMES they are looking for and HELPING THEM to accomplish that OUTCOME.

Even if it meant or means WALKING AWAY.

There are a number of problems I see in business, that business owners make particularly when it comes to growing their business through sales and selling. And one of those problems is chasing money instead of generating support.

So, if you can take this one saying. Put it up somewhere in your office or on your bathroom mirror or in your car you will begin to see results in your life like never before.

How does it work? The place you are coming from is a place of giving rather than receiving.

Giving is leadership. Giving means YOU take the first step. GIVING means YOU initiate. Giving means YOU take the first step. And this first POSITIVE STEP is indeed a KEY PIECE of positive leadership.

If you liked this small training? If you like this small group idea and you know another small to mid size business owners or leaders who would benefit from these insights? Please have them join us on facebook at Positive Leadership Network.

Thanks for reading. See you soon, Tanya.

Direction.

May 25, 2020 by Tanya Lacy

What is your STRATEGIC direction?

This is an important question for you to be able to answer. Not for others, but for you.

Now, unlike specific goals, a general direction is all about a general trajectory.

Having this set up in your mind is key. A feel for the direction.

If you’re not clear on your direction and you’d like support, you can reach out to us to help you shape it.

In the meantime, the reason YOU must have a clear direction is so you have a feeling of CERTAINTY from with-in yourself. If you don’t, it will be difficult for others to ‘follow you’ or keep track with you.

Leadership is about having people follow you. But to where?

If we can help you get clarity? And you need a hand? Don’t hesitate to reach out over at our website where you can book a clarity call with us.
Here’s the specific page:
https://www.interceptexperience.com/#front-page-6

It’s free. And there is NO obligation to do anything other than get clear.
Clarity is Power. The clearer you are the more powerful you can be.

Your Leadership Style.

May 11, 2020 by Tanya Lacy

Your Leadership Style. Is it brain based? Or heart based?

Have you ever stopped to consider that? Or assess it?

The way we teach Positive Leadership is to get your balance right between your expertise and your humanity.

Put another way, head and heart or mind and emotions or brain and heart.

This is always the answer when it comes to leading people.

Getting the balance between brain and heart right.

The challenge is that society conditions us to be logical and to eliminate the feels.

However without the feels we fail to create the kind of connection that builds strong relationships.

And of course,

without relationship no business can be done. No trusted relationships. No deals. No business.

If you’re ready to find your right balance of humanity and expertise, then really tune into what we have available.

We have a self paced learning program you can #learnathome on positive leadership and influence.

Its called The Influential Leader Online. It’s an online mentoring program that you can drip feed the learning for yourself and your team and learn at your own pace.

If you already have this we’d love your comments on how it’s helped you and what modules you love the most.

If not, and you like the sound of it, reach out at client@interceptexperience.com we can share more about how you access the free trial.

We’d love to share the gold nuggets inside this online program: TheInfluentialLeaderOnline

In the meantime, tune into whether you’re more head or heart based – or can deliver on both.

Thanks for reading, and we hope this serves you in some way.

Communication

May 4, 2020 by Tanya Lacy

Communication is a BIG deal.

When we FAIL to communicate clearly or in a way that lands powerfully to others: we can feel misunderstood.

Being misunderstood is the worst feeling. We all want to be understood.

As a positive leader a great goal is to do your best to understand others.

I want to introduce you to a tool that will help. It’s a free self assessment you can do called the 5 love languages. https://www.5lovelanguages.com/
The idea is to identify the way that you like to communicate and be communicated with.

We believe that understanding yourself will go a long way to getting the most out of your personal and business relationships, and of course, help make you a much better leader.

Enjoy the assessment and we really hope it serves you in enhancing your relationships.

Dealing with Disappointment

April 26, 2020 by Tanya Lacy

Embracing Disappointment is a KEY to developing your leadership.

Why?

Because life DOES NOT run smoothly.

Life runs BUMPY.

And, keeping this top of mind gives you an ability to NOT BE TAKEN OUT by life.

So really today’s message is about creating a mindset that HELPS you move forward. That HELPS you have energy. That HELPS you get through the ups and downs of the day. That HELPS you keep perspective.

In life we will always FEEL disappointment at some point. The secret is to allow the process of this feeling to move through us like a PROCESS rather than a highly emotionally charged EVENT.

If you would like to learn more about Processing Disappointment. And how to D.E.A.L. with disappointment, then please email us at clientcare@interceptexperience.com with the subject D.E.A.L “WEB LESSON” . We will then prepare a “WEB LESSON” and some ecoaching for you on this very important skill.

For now, knowing that there is a way to process disappointment is key.

Next step will be to learn HOW to processes it. And we have some strategies for you inside our paid for materials.

In the meantime, if you’re already a client, please raise this inside your next session with your Intercept facilitator. Or if you’d like to look into this with us, reach out at clientcare@interceptexperience.com

VISION

April 20, 2020 by Tanya Lacy

You have to have Vision, and you have to have hope. It’s what will keep you moving forward.

The other day, I had one of you reach out to me and ask me if I really felt things would get better.

What do you see? Is the question I asked.

What is the Vision that you can cast?

What is the hope that you see?

This is so important as leaders. We must focus on what we can see, on what we can do, and what we believe in.

This gives us strength, and it also gives strength to others.

If you’ve made the decision to be a leader in the community, if you are a leader in business, if you are a leader at work, then it is important to always ask yourself this question:

“Where am I leading others to…”

So, be mindful of your vision. Be mindful of your direction.

And if you would like support from the team here to create and cast a strong compelling vision. If you would like help in defining, refining and shaping your goals, then please reach out.

We have a range of ways we can support you, from free to paid to self paced learning. Our commitment is always that we will meet you where you are at.

If you are an existing client, we trust this serves as a reminder to keep focused on your vision.

If you are new to our work, please know we are here to help you clarify your vision and direction. Reach out to us at clientcare@intereptexperience.com and we will do our best to support you in any way we can.
