Let’s Talk Resilience

July 27, 2020 by Tanya Lacy

I’d really like to raise the topic of resilience.

What do YOU believe the PILLARS of RESILIENCE are in your own experience?

Where does RESILIENCE come from? Is it through experience? Is it from failures? Is it from things NOT falling in your favor all the time?

Is it figuring out WORK-AROUNDS?
How do you BELIEVE RESILIENCE is best cultivated inside your own ….

  1. Leadership Philosophy
  2. Business Models
  3. Communication Style
  4. Business Relationships

Would love to hear your thoughts and experiences. And most of all – you FEEL that talking resilience is of value right now?

In our work we talk about how VULNERABILITY is actually a STRENGTHENER. When mates are able to be vulnerable, it creates scars and scar tissue which cause tighter and better bonding afterwards.

I love the analogy of SCAR-TISSUE because it is something we can all relate to.

What does RESILIENCE means for you and your business right now…AND

How do you cultivate it to get through tough moments… ?

Intuition.

July 13, 2020 by Tanya Lacy

The moments of zero pressure, openness, spaciousness, quietness are the moments when INTUITION can rise up from within us and dance and play.

These moments cannot be forced. They rise up in their own. This creative force is what helps make us human.

The spontaneity FEELS good. It SITS well.

When we are intuitive, we can be productive. We can produce. We can connect.

When we are forced, we are rigid, we are robotic, mechanical.

Yet, sometimes like squeezing an orange, we can force out the best essence with self imposed pressure.

The conditions to cause intuition can be designed.

How can you create an environment that inspires your intuition to come out and play?

How can your intuition serve you to become more innovative?

How will you invent more?

What REALLY limits your imagination?

Some of the best ideas and inventions came from a genius locked in a room for days.

If you’d like support figuring out what you can be doing differently or how you can be supporting your personal and business dreams better?

What is the most Consistent aspect of you?

July 6, 2020 by Tanya Lacy

If someone was to sit on the other side of you. Sit opposite you. Time and time again.

What would they see about YOU that is THE MOST CONSISTENT ASPECT of you?

This is a super important part of understanding your particular brand of leadership.

This is also super important for you to connect with the MOST uncomplicated leadership you can deliver.

Why?

Because the MORE AUTHENTIC you are. The MORE you, you bring to the way you show up as a leader?

The LESS COMPLICATED it needs to be.

Let’s Talk Preparation…

June 29, 2020 by Tanya Lacy

When we talk about PREPARATION, it’s most important to start with a question:

What’s your FOCUS?

Is your focus, (and has it been really) to KNOW YOUR NUMBERS?

The numbers track all the activity. And when people panic or get too emotional, they focus on the wrong things.

Focus on what you WANT to CREATE is super important right now.

And make steps towards that.

Knowing numbers is a key piece to this puzzle that could be being missed.

What is your business COSTING you? REALLY?

For instance, the business language for that may be CONSOLIDATION.

CONSOLIDATION of what you do have, and doing a stock take of what we KEEP and what we THROW out.

We KEEP what’s NEEDED

We THROW out what’s NOT

This is a simplistic way to look at things, however it’s a good start.

BACK TO BASICS.

So CLEANING HOUSE becomes part of the PREPARATION.

Cleaning house is something we ALL can do now.

It’s something that we ALL can do going forward.

So long as BASIC needs are met (I’m thinking MASLOW’s HEIRACHY OF NEEDS) then, you can function.

If you have your basics in place you have time to THINK clearly. You have time to be STRATEGIC and you have time to PREPARE.

So, if you’re NOT feeling PREPARED right now, or you weren’t prepared, what within that is IN your control.

Did you mis-understand, or not understand what you needed to?

Did you not see what you needed to see? Were you distracted?

(This at a personal level is actually what #ownyourowneconomy is all about).

Understanding the USE of our BUSINESS RESULTS to SET up our PERSONAL results.

Part of Preparation is about resetting what SUCCESS means for YOU, YOUR FAMILY, YOUR LOVED ONES, YOUR TEAMS.

And the GLUE to that is actually CARE, SUPPORT & EDUCATION.

The one thing that I believe HELPS and SUPPORTS PREPARATION and CUTS through PANIC and HIGHLY CHARGED EMOTION is KNOWING YOUR NUMBERS.

Really know your numbers: What it costs you to live in a way that sits well with you. What inflows of cash you need to meet all your commitments. And of course if you need to then adjust those commitments, negotiation and do so.

The secret is CASH-FLOW. Cash-flow is blood to our lives and our companies.

To create and keep cash-flow going, we must have the foundations and basics right.

Keeping ourselves in check on this, being well intended and calm is key.

The quality of our life and business that we create, begins with the quality of our character.

Meeting the needs and wants of others, produces good inflows.

Character is everything in times like this.

We MUST apply ourselves to what MUST be done to GET through. And take the steps that get us there.

Education and Learning about handling what cash-flow we do have and monitoring costs is a key theme for ourselves and those who work with us.

If you’re the owner, do your people understand a balance sheet?

If you’re an employee, do you understand a balance sheet? High level? In detail?

If not, make it your business to LEARN FAST. Know your NUMBERS.

Life has a way of teaching us what we need to know, even if it’s uncomfortable.

When was the last time you sunk yourself into a positive book?

June 22, 2020 by Tanya Lacy

Give your eyeballs a rest from screen time.

Give your mouth a rest from talking.

Give your ears a rest from the noise of the world.

Rest your mind.

Pick up a solid positive book.

Feel it cover to cover, breathe in the words of the page.

Digest wisdom.

Here are three favorites:

1. Power of Positive Thinking – A real oldie and so very good.

2. Think and Grow Rich – which is less about money and more about inner wealth

3. How to Win Friends & Influence People – some great solid truths

Downloadable, printable, perhaps you have these in your bookshelf already? Do they just need a good dust off?

They say there’s nothing new under the sun, just a new perspective on an old principle.

So, when was the last time you lost yourself in the pages of a positive book?

P.S. – Yes there is time. Switch off the television at night. Snuggle with a cup of tea and your book.

Even if it’s only a 15-minute session, progress will open up a different part of your mind.

WORRY is the ENEMY of SOUND LEADERSHIP

June 15, 2020 by Tanya Lacy

There are so many aspects to business…

It can be overwhelming however it doesn’t have to be.

Today I’d like to shine a light on this.

The reason is, it’s key to get present to what you are naturally great at (and honour yourself for those skills and talents).

How will you know?

Certain aspects will come more easy to you than others.

Notice this.

You personally don’t have to be a master at everything. What is handy is to have a deep enough understanding of

1. What you’re achieving
2. What outcomes you need

This is where reverse engineering comes in.

You can ask, hire, appoint, delegate the pieces to others who are much better at that particular aspect than you.

Little pieces of work. Little projects. To move forward.

▫️If you’re great at relationships? Honour that

▫️If you’re great at creative, honour that

▫️If you’re great at execution honour that

▫️If you’re great at problem solving honour that

Then, from a place of KNOWING what you’re good at, you can match what the business needs and then begin piecing together the other parts you need to get you where you’re headed.

I’m so big on this because of the screw ups in my own business life I’ve made.

I ….

▫️ wasted time on the wrong people

▫️selected the wrong people

▫️demanded too much of others in unreasonable ways

▫️wasted tens of thousands on consultants unnecessarily

▫️worked in my business too much (workaholic)

▫️got my sense of identity from my business

▫️took on the wrong customers

▫️fought with my business partners

▫️let our communication differences interrupt our dreams and goals

▫️stayed in the weeds and details way too much instead of being strategic

▫️ undervalued my own skill talent and impact

▫️failed to keep an eye on costs

▫️made and lost more money than I want to think about because it’s painful

However, I kept going.

And the reasons have a lot to do with this phrase…

‘If it was EASY – EVERYONE would be doing it’

So that’s the truth. Being a high performer in business isn’t easy. Running and owning a business isn’t easy.

But it’s awesome when it works well!

🥂 it’s rewarding

🏆 you get to choose the team of suppliers and colleagues you work with

⭐️ you get to choose the hours you work

☕️ you get to choose your workstyle

🏆 you can set your own financial goals and targets and define what wealth means to you

There are many benefits if you can do this one thing….

STAY IN IT for the Long Deep Game…

Don’t be in a rush
Ride the peaks & troughs
Lead yourself to your goals
Trust it is a journey
Keep re-calibrating yourself every day
Have people around you at different times, who add value in the season you need them to.

In all the years, we’ve worked to support business owners and leadership teams as they shape and grow their business…

We’ve learned so much.

There are 5 Key Aspects inside you and your business to keep your eye on and to focus your effort into.

These aspects are invisible. Yet they produce the tangible visible results you’re going for.

You can NEVER stop considering and shaping this aspect of yourself and your business as they are your ticket to what we call, spiraling up.

🏆 spiraling up your business results

🏆 growing as a person

🏆 improving your communication

🏆 improving your style

🏆 improving your negotiation skills

🏆 improving the standard of team you attract

🏆 improving the standard of customer you attract

🏆 improving your own standard of living and quality of your life

To do this, it’s important to figure out what to lose.

What to STOP doing as much as what to actually do.

And this is where I want to assure you, you’re in the right place.

This is what we do here. My team and I are here to support you as you change, and shape and grow yourself and your business.

All you have to figure out is what success looks like for you.

From there. We together can figure it out.

As long as you are prepared to stay in it? With the right strategy and implementation and support , you will get there.

Find out what our clients say under the client comments tab.

We hope this post gets you to think and serves you in some way.

SERVE Vs SELL

June 8, 2020 by Tanya Lacy

This post continues from a post over on my Tanya Lacy Leadership Training Page. And the topic is about how 1 simple expression I would use over and over helped me achieve a steady stream of lucrative contracts over the years.

And it’s all to do with how to look at SALES in a different way.

Let me start with what sales is not.

Sales is not shoving something in the face of someone and TELLING them they NEED to BUY it.

I remember being in Egypt many years ago and having products and trinkets and offers made to me with products being literally shoved in my face.

It’s not a nice feeling is it? And that’s the thing. I believe most people who are AFRAID of selling, are not actually afraid of selling as much as BEING SEEN to be SHOVING something in the FACE of someone that is not needed. Hence becoming a nuisance. Let’s face it, no one wants to be a nuisance.

We don’t wake up in the morning and say – today I am going to annoy as many people as possible. Really piss them off and aggravate and frustrate them making their day really sh*t do we?

No, we wake up with a completely different thought and of course this is what sets up the whole scenario. In-fact our thoughts can make or break our day.

Before I share what the key thought or saying to tell yourself over and over again actually is, I do want to hit you up with a formulae.

Here’s the formulae. I first heard it from T. Harv Eker, and then I changed it up to something that works better for our clients. Here it is:

Thoughts => Feelings => Reactions => Actions => Result.

Your thoughts create your feelings which create your REACTIONS which create your Actions, which create your results.

So if you have the thought “I will be annoying this person” or “this person doesn’t need what I have” you will be right.

If you have the thought “I’m just no good at selling or sales” you will be right.

If you have the thought “No-one listens to me” you will be right

If you have the thought “I can learn how to be better at sales and teach my whole team to do the same” you will be right.

And so, THOUGHTS and what you THINK and what you SAY TO YOURSELF as the leader are SUPER Key to the success of your business.

—

At Intercept Group we are known for asking this question: Do you accept that the success of your business is a reflection of you?

What we’re really asking is do you accept that your inner world experience is going to shape the trajectory of your outer-world business results?

If you are not getting the results you want, then INTERCEPT your trajectory. (Hence the name of our business and programs, being ‘Intercept’).

And what we’ve grown to understand is that the beliefs and thoughts of the LEADER shape so much.

And this brings me to sharing the saying that I would say over and over again before creating a NEW piece of business or contract for my company.

That new piece of business could be $500 or it could be $100K the saying would be exactly the same.

Whether I was doing a phone call. A discussion. Presenting. Anytime I am entering into communication. And this has been a total game changer for any client I would share this with.

Here it is: Here’s the SAYING.

“LOOK AFTER PEOPLE and THE MONEY COMES”.

Yes, Look after people and the money comes.

Look after people, and the money comes.

This saying to me, was all about exchange. Offering fair exchange for what we as a business could provide and what the client NEEDED.

It comes from SERVE FIRST. It comes from a mindset of SERVING not SELLING.

It comes from finding out what the client NEEDS and what OUTCOMES they are looking for and HELPING THEM to accomplish that OUTCOME.

Even if it meant or means WALKING AWAY.

There are a number of problems I see in business, that business owners make particularly when it comes to growing their business through sales and selling. And one of those problems is chasing money instead of generating support.

So, if you can take this one saying. Put it up somewhere in your office or on your bathroom mirror or in your car you will begin to see results in your life like never before.

How does it work? The place you are coming from is a place of giving rather than receiving.

Giving is leadership. Giving means YOU take the first step. GIVING means YOU initiate. Giving means YOU take the first step. And this first POSITIVE STEP is indeed a KEY PIECE of positive leadership.

If you liked this small training? If you like this small group idea and you know another small to mid size business owners or leaders who would benefit from these insights? Please have them join us on facebook at Positive Leadership Network.

Thanks for reading. See you soon, Tanya.
